Kakawa: Chocolates, Darlinghurst (10 Nov 2010)

147 William Street Darlinghurst NSW 2010

Hand made fine chocolates

I've often passed by this unassuming small shop on the very busy William Street and today I noticed they were selling ice cream sandwiches so thought I'd give them a go. They make a few choices of flavours and I chose the decently sized Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich ($5) — larger than the Pat and Stick's Ice Cream Sandwiches so on a hot day be prepared to eat a little quicker. It was rather nice in flavour and not too sweet although because it was quite large it made it a little awkward to eat gracefully. I was treated to a small tasting sample of Peanut Toffee chocolate which had a lovely balance of flavours. Some of the most popular choices are the Sea Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter Triangle and Lemon. The more unusual flavours of Chai Latte Cup and Basil are the owners favourite picks.

SNAPSHOT REVIEW:
PROS: Hand made quality chocolates, Good variety of flavours, Friendly staff, Single origin chocolate available
CONS: Limited street parking, Not a particularly handy location unless you live close by
MUST TRY: A selection of different chocolates
